My client is currently seeking a Chief Operating Officer to manage their project in Africa
Purpose of role
- Reporting to the CEO and President
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Company’s activities focusing on directing and supporting the final phases of the ongoing BFS followed by mine planning & mine development and plant construction.
- Oversee all administrative and technical aspects of the company’s project in North East Africa and coordinate the efforts of various departments.
- Adhere to budget and schedules outlined and approved by the Board of Directors
- The COO’s primary objective is to manage all activities related to the company in Africa and other jurisdictions with strong a strong back ground in either solution mining or potash processing.
- The COO should provide leadership and guidance and implement the changes necessary in the company to transition from exploration through development and mine construction to production.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage all external consultants engaged by the Company to compile the BFS.
- Direct scheduling and planning of the completion of the BFS and coordinate development of the solution mining and processing facility.
- Develop and implement a fully integrated approach to operations of the company.
- Develop and maintain dialogue with government ministries and government official
- Oversee Company staff and HR and direct recruiting efforts for skilled technical staff for the effective operation of the project in both the development and production phases.
- Assist in the development and compliance of company CSR and HSE policies and liaise with IFC
- Assist the CEO in project financing initiatives and any M&A activities
Requirements:
- An excellent leader with the energy to undertake this very demanding role.
- Possession of a calm and flexible leadership style and good organizational skills, stemming from an operational background.
- The COO will require African or at least developing world experience, and strong communication and cultural skills in order to deal with multiple nationalities.
- The ideal candidate should have mine/processing engineering experience in solution mining or potash processing.
